History
Rajiv Gandhi . . . a true citizen . . . a passionate patriot . . . a Gandhian and ex prime minister India from October 31,1984 to December 2,1989, also fondly remembered as the architect of Modern India.

As a visionary, he paved the way ahead towards progress and wanted his country to grow as a self reliant nation. He was a charismatic leader who bravely fought inimical forces to progressively lead the country towards 21st Century.

As a prime minister, Rajiv Gandhi had a vision which he translated into an unshakable determination that transformed India into a technologically advanced country, economically strong with its policies, rightfully respected and heard by the nations of the world.

As Rajiv Gandhi the man, he is remembered for the sincere humility, his compassion and his genuine concern for the problems of the people of the country. Yet with all the burdens of his office he never lost his sense of humour.

Rajivji mainly followed seven ideals Dharma, Satya, Nyaya, Vigyan, Tyaga, Shanti & Samriddhi. These ideals were embedded in his heart & mind, holding aloft the values he cherished & the principle of good governance that he upheld & imbibed the spirit of service & humanity.

Rajiv Gandhi ... a source of inspiration!!!
Shri Charan Singh Sapra, who is an avid follower of Rajivji's Ideology, initiated these awards in year 1995, in an endeavour to keep alive the vision of his beloved leader. These awards have been instituted to commemorate the memory of not only a legendary Prime Minister of India, but of a man who architected the new age developments that have become a part of our daily life today.

Since 12 years this platform brings together various fraternities and their maestros to celebrate the spirit of achievement . . . a spirit that inspires aspirants to excel and others to take notice. This is today the most coveted honor that our country bestows upon any Indian who deserves it. The award gets reported by regional, national & international media and is telecasted internationally on Sony TV, Sab TV & Set Max.

Rajiv Gandhi Awards Committee ensures a smooth & genuine conduction of these awards and the processes therein. Other than these awards, the committee is also engaged in various social activities throughout the year. The committee sets a fool-proof jury six months in advance to the event, which then selects the nominees. The jury consists of stalwarts from various walks of life like special dignitaries, critics & journalists with a global outlook and those who have contributed towards the progress of the nation significantly.

In order to aid global viewing, the event is embellished with live performances by Indian stars. Every year the event is graced by various cabinet ministers, chief ministers, dignitaries & eminent socialists by their valuable presence.
The event is held at the National Centre for Performing Arts, Nariman Point, Mumbai, the best indoor venue available in India.
